Currently, sugarcane covers approximately 26 million hectares across 128 countries, with an average yield of 54MT/ha, making it a major crop globally. Sugarcane plays a crucial role in biomass and sugar production. Among the key fertilizer elements, nitrogen (N) is particularly essential. With a growth period of one year, nutrient supply typically involves 2-3 applications. However, the residual effect of chemical fertilizers lasts only about 30 to 40 days, posing a risk of reduced growth due to inadequate nitrogen content. Therefore, the application of Controlled Release Fertilizers (CRF) is necessary to supply all required nutrients throughout the entire plant growth period.
The One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer [23-3-5+MgO 2%+SiO2 4%+CaO 6%] contains Sigmoid-type Controlled Release Fertilizer (CRF) and NPS, a functional substance from Nousbo. NPS promotes root development and nutrient absorption, while CRF ensures the gradual release of nutrients for enhanced effectiveness. Additionally, the fertilizer includes essential elements like K and Mg for photosynthesis and Ca and Si to improve plant structure, disease resistance, and photosynthetic efficiency, thereby enhancing crop quality. This fertilizer is applied once as a basal dressing.

(One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer Composition)
A field trial was conducted in Kampong Seila, Cambodia, to evaluate the effectiveness of the One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer. The KK3 variety of sugarcane was planted on February 4th, at a rate of 9 tons per hectare. Three treatments were tested: (1) Control with no fertilizer applied; (2) One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer applied once by mixing 300kg per hectare into the soil as a base fertilizer before planting; (3) Conventional Fertilizer, locally used [16-16-8+13S] fertilizer, applied at a rate of 250kg per hectare as base fertilizer, followed by two top dressings, totaling three applications.

Results showed changes in leaf color during growth by analyzing SPAD values measured for each treatment at 6, 7, 8, and 9 months after planting. One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer exhibited SPAD values ranging from 34.8 to 41.2, with an average of 39.0, indicating approximately 107% of leaf color compared to conventional fertilization, without any nutrient deficiency symptoms. Conventional fertilization showed SPAD values ranging from 27.0 to 43.7, with a decrease in leaf color over time, indicating reduced effectiveness. Control treatment exhibited approximately 96% of leaf color, showing symptoms of nutrient deficiency.
Above-ground yield investigation after approximately 12 months revealed that One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer yielded 103.3 tons per hectare, while conventional fertilization yielded 85.8 tons per hectare, approximately 83% compared to One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer. Control treatment yielded 36.7 tons per hectare, approximately 43% compared to conventional fertilization.

(Yield and growth parameters of Sugarcane affected by various kinds of treatments in Cambodia * horizontal scroll →)
Rooting of sugarcane was well established in the area fertilized with One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer (Picture 1). Even after 103 days of planting, growth in the fertilized area remained superior.
Based on these results, "One-time Sugarcane Specialized Fertilizer" was considered an "effective fertilizer" that supplies nutrients throughout the entire sugarcane growth period with only one basal dressing fertilization.
