Research summary
(Summary of the study of Nousbo CRF 26-5-12 effect on Cabbage growth and yield performances in Philippines)
Nousbo CRF 26-5-12 is a fertilizer in the form of granules coated with material that can control the rate, pattern and duration of plant nutrient release. In order to determine the effect of Nousbo CRF on the growth and yield of Tomato and to confirm the effective rate of CRF that will produce the highest yield, CRF 26-5-12 was evaluated for its efficacy as one-time application product for complete nutrient supply for Cabbage from November 2018 to March 2019 in two locations in Philippines: Barangay Caurdanetaan, Umingan, Pangasinan (Barangay) and Barangay Bantug, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecja (Barangay Nueva Evja).
(Cabbage field in Philippines)
The recommended rate of conventional fertilizer was applied based on soil analysis recommendation at the rate of 150-30-40kg NP2O5K2O per hectare in Barangay and 150-40-60kg NP2O5K2O per hectare in Barangay, Nueva ecija, applied as basal and top dressing. Inorganic fertilizer sources were complete fertilizer 14-14-14, Urea 46-0-0 and Muriate of Potash. CRF 26-5-12 was applied once as basal through dibbling. The following data were gathered: days to head formation, plant height(cm) at heading stage, average weight of head (g) and computed yield (tons/ha). Results are summarized in the following table.
Yield and growth parameters of Cabbage affected by various kinds of fertilizers in Barangay and Barangay, Nueva ecija
The effectiveness of CRF 26-5-12 showed statistically significant effect on the yield of Cabbage in both locations. Basal application of CRF 26-5-12 in Barangay location and Barangay, Nueva ecija location at 5g/hill took the shortest number of days from transplanting to about 50% of the plants to produced heads. The tallest plant height at heading stage was obtained by the application of CRF 26-5-12 at the rate of 5g/hill (27.33cm) in Barangay and (26.14cm) in Barangay, Nueva ecija. Average weight of cabbage head was found to be heaviest (1279.33g in Barangay and 1253.33g in Barangay, Nueva ecija) from plants harvested on plots treated with CRF 26-5-12 at the rate of 5g/hill. Application of CRF 26-5-12 at the rate of 5g/hill produced the highest weight of marketable heads per plot in both locations.
(Yield quality of Cabbage affected by various kinds of fertilizers)
Based on the results of the study, application of CRF 26-5-12 at the rate of 5g/hill is recommended for producing the highest marketable yield of cabbage. However, to lessen the expense of small-farmer cabbage grower 4g/hill can also be applied.
